Whether you’re a skincare newbie or looking to upgrade your current routine, deciding which products are right for you can leave your head spinning. With so many options, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Don’t worry! We’re here to help you get your skincare journey on the right track with our easy 3-step guide.
Start with the basics
Regardless of what routine you use or your skin type, a good routine should have these basic steps; Cleanse, treat and moisturise. What’s more, if this is your first plunge into the beauty world, starting your skincare journey with just these 3 steps means you’re more likely to stick to it over time.
Step 1 - Cleanse
A great way to start the day is with a gentle cleanser like our Purifying Cleansing Beauty Cream to help remove any excess sweat or oil gathered overnight. This luxurious cream cleanser also contains an unusually high amount of squalane to renew and repair the skin, meaning it works well on drier complexions too.
However, it’s the all-important PM cleanse that you want to pay particular attention to. It’s crucial to remove any makeup and SPF applied in the morning, as well as any impurities your skin has picked up during the day.
If you have dry or mature skin, we recommend Clementine Cleansing Balm. It melts away any trace of makeup and SPF, it can be used around the eyes to dissolve eye makeup and leaves your skin feeling plump and hydrated.
For more oily or congested complexions, Charcoal Peace Calming Cleanser is a must. Its gel-to-oil-to-milk formula gives you a deep cleanse feeling without over-drying your skin. Just like Clementine, it melts everything away but the presence of activated vegetable charcoal and kaolin clay makes it a wonderful gentle daily detox for skin.
Step 2 – Treat
Serums are a great way to add a skin-beneficial shot of active ingredients to your complexion. Use after cleansing and before your moisturiser to help with a variety of skin concerns.
One of our go-to treatments for dry skin is Ideal Moisture Level Serum. Rich in hyaluronic acid, it locks in moisture and prevents chronic dehydration by reducing water loss through the skin. Another firm fan-favourite is Ideal Rebalancing Level Serum, formulated to reduce excess sebum and pore size while providing just the right amount of hydration.
For those suffering from uneven complexions, we can’t get enough of Ideal Brightening Corrective Serum, clinically shown to improve brightness and reduce hyperpigmentation. Last but not least is the new kid on the block (and current best seller): Plant Perfection Gel Serum. This innovative formula stimulates collagen production and creates an immediate tightening effect, reducing fine lines.
Step 3 – Moisturise
The last step in your skincare journey is all about moisturising your skin. We recommend using a cream in both AM and PM routines. Whether it’s the same one or two different ones depends on your skin’s needs. For example, some like to use a richer cream at night.
We know it’s tempting, but we don’t recommend skipping this step if you have oily skin. Your skin needs hydration and protection on a daily basis. Our Essential Bio-Technological Moisturiser is a great choice for oilier skin types as it will keep your complexion perfectly hydrated without feeling greasy. It’s also perfect for combination or younger skins.
For drier skin types, reach for Nutritive Repair Emulsion. This rich cream helps regenerate and strengthen the epidermal barrier. It gives instant soothing relief to sensitive or irritated skin as well. If you have combination skin, you may want to use this one at night.
If sun damage is your biggest concern (think sun spots and uneven tone), Artemisia Power Protection Moisturiser SPF50+ is for you. Formulated as a daily moisturiser, this mineral-based SPF protects skin from both environmental pollution and harmful UV rays. (Drier complexions may want to layer it on top of your moisturiser of choice.)
Start your skincare journey as you mean to go on…
Once you’ve got into the habit of keeping your face clean, happy and protected, you may want to add a few more products to boost its efficiency further. But, above all, the key is to be patient and consistent. The desired results often depend on the complete replacement of skin cells, which takes time.
